CAR SEATS
Buyers Guide to Car Seats
We don't tend to supply many stand alone infant car seats these days as the majority of people buy one to fit on their buggy,pushchair pram etc. Some people buy a travel system complete from the very start but that is not to say that these same car seats carnnot be used in their own right.
Here are a few considerations for you before your purchase
- Will it fit your car?
- Do you have air bags in the front passenger seat which may not be disabled?
- Do you require a seperate base for ease of use?
The best advice we can give for choosing a car seat is to bring your car to the front of our shop and let us try it in for you. Many shops like us are now charging £20.00 for this privilege and deducting the same amount when the car seat is purchased.
This is to penalise the web purchasers when they expect us to provide a service for them to check if a certain car seat fits their car before purchasing from the internet. The reason that internet sites sell for less is because they don't have to pay rent and rates for a shop because they don't need to provide these types of service!
The two most important Group0+ Car seats at the moment are the Maxi Cosi Cabrio and the Mamas and Papas Primo Viaggio which are both pictured below;
As baby grows, the need for the second stage car (Group1) seat develops.
Mostly, we tend to run with the Maxi Cosi brand, being the Priori SPS and the Priori XP. We do from time to time stock the Mamas and Papas Protec. All of these seats offer an excellent fit in the car and have all won awards for safety during their lifetime.
There are less expensive car seats available in Group 1 but we would prefer to stick with the tried and tested.
We can of course order the car seat of your choice if we do not carry it in stock.
You will find the most popular car seats below.
